Tilt-up concrete wall panels, tilt wall structures design build to suit. Johnson Building specializes in the design and construction of load bearing, site cast, tilt-up concrete structures for industrial and commercial uses. See www.tilt-up.org, the tilt-up concrete association web site for more information.
What is Tilt-Up? "Tilt-Up" is a state-of-the-art building system that utilizes load bearing reinforced concrete panels, eliminating the need for steel framing around the perimeter of the building. The method is basically jobsite prefabrication by which concrete panels are cast on site and tilted up and into their final position. Once all panels have been erected and temporarily braced, the steel frame an decking is installed creating the structural diaphragm. "Tilt-Up" delivers more building for your construction dollar. Ready mixed concrete is locally available and on site forming and erection make the end up product extremely competitive. With this economical production method and reduced costs of the structural steel you will receive more building for your dollar and a further savings as a result of the fast construction. Speed of Construction Since panels are formed and cast on site, we can control the construction schedule and eliminate timely deliveries. Larger buildings with more repetitious panels can be completed in a short period of time. Other than the economical and time saving factors noted above, "Tilt-Up" buildings require minimum maintenance as a result of it durability. The wall panels resist everyday contact damage and are impervious to rodents. "Tilt-Up" buildings are recognized by the Canadian Warehousing Association for the storage of general merchandise and food goods to GPMC Standards. "Tilt-Up" concrete panels are also fire-resistant and allow closer spacing of buildings and reduced fire insurance rate. The concrete panels are also an excellent deterrent to vandalism and theft. "Tilt-Up" buildings are designed for expandability and panels can be cut to accommodate future openings or repositioned for building additions. Energy Efficiency The "Tilt-Up" system has an air infiltration factor as low as 1/3 air change per hour. This low rate of infiltration creates a significant reduction in the heating and/or cooling loads. Concrete has natural heat retention qualities, providing another source of energy savings. Insulating of the exterior walls can be achieved by an interior application or by means of optional insulated sandwich panels. "Tilt-Up" concrete can be used for any type of low to mid-rise building such as offices, industrial condominiums, commercial plazas, shopping centres, warehousing, manufacturing and recreational facilities. Architectural Options Design freedom is limitless by utilizing a variety of surface colours and textures. The building's exterior appearance can also be enhanced by rustications, liner panels, exposed aggregate and sandblasting. Panels can be cast in all shapes and sizes to best suit the owner's needs and tastes. |
